Mississauga Mandarin Business Association (MMBA), a subsidiary of the Mississauga Mandarin Association (MMA), the largest non-profit Chinese community organization in Mississauga, is organizing the Better Future Expo Education Fair on May 11 at John Fraser Secondary School in Mississauga.
In recent years, tens of thousands of newcomers have settled in the Peel Region, Halton Region and surrounding areas. Their continual search for a better future in Canada has generated a need for a full-scale education information fair. Newcomer parents want to upgrade and learn new skills to achieve better-paying jobs.
Newcomer children are seeking enhancement programs to compete for the best universities, and for arts and sports programs to get a more rounded education. Their increasing need has been motivating force behind MMBA organizing the Better Future Expo Educational Fair.
According to Frank Tang, the fair’s event chairman, “The educational needs for western GTA reflect the needs of close to 55,000 businesses located in the region, including 63 Fortune 500 companies which have Canadian head offices or divisional head offices in this region. In addition, our children are always seeking ways to give them an edge when applying for universities in this region as well as in the rest of Canada. The focus of fair is to inform our local community how they achieve a better future.”
MMBA is well supported by the Peel District School Board which will be presenting seminars such as Plan for Success–Tools and Strategies for Career Life Planning; Help Your Child Excel in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program and Get To Know the Peel Academy for International Students. They are also providing the venue for the fair.
Invited guests to the fair include Hazel McCallion, the Mayor of Mississauga; Susan Fennel, the Mayor of Brampton; and Bob Dechart, MP for Mississauga-Erindale.
