Immigrant launches Xpat Xpo

The first Xpat Xpo event will open its doors to internationals living in Toronto on Sunday, October 6, at the Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge St.).

Founded by British expatriate Kate Johnson who is passionate about supporting Canada’s newcomers, the event’s trade show floor will introduce attendees to companies, products and services to help them with their settlement.

The speakers’ core will host expert presentations on finance, real estate and entrepreneurship. The networking lounge will have music, games and giveaways to help attendees to grow their social and professional circles.

Johnson, 28, said, “I am very excited to see Toronto’s different cultures come together at the event and to offer a fun and millennial take on the traditional trade show. Xpat Xpo is eager to ease the transition for the 46 per cent of the Toronto area population that are immigrants and to promote the many valuable resources that are available to them. Not only that, the biggest struggle for me personally when I arrived in Canada was to meet new people. Therefore, a large focus of the event will be on creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere so new connections can be made.”

The event will feature:

• One-on-one immigration, career, banking and tax advice.

• Music, live interviews and immigrant success stories.

• A dedicated section to support aspiring entrepreneurs.

• Expert presentations on the Toronto real estate market, financial advice and the power of belonging in community.
