Diwali celebrated across Canada

As Canadians celebrated Diwali across the country, the inaugural Canada Dry DiwaliFest lit up Bramalea City Centre from October 24 to 26.

The three-day festival featured live entertainment on stage and a host of activities appropriate for the entire family throughout the festival venue.

Performances on the specially constructed 32-foot stage featured Bollywood and Beyond Dance Group; Zaine Belly Dance and XtremeBhangra.

Live musical performances were provided by the Akash Band, Auto Richshaw Trio and the Canadian Sinfonietta Youth Orchestra.

Top dance troupes from the GTA competed for the title and cash prize in a dance competition, judged by, among others, Chase Constantino, the renowned choreographer who competed in Canada’s Got Talent finale.

A colourful fashion show, featuring traditional South Asian attire added to the excitement.

Many elements of Diwali – such as the traditional rangoli – were showcased.
